Biogas storage

Are you looking for storage of biogas ? Membrane Systems Europe has the perfect solutions.
Our biogas balloons and domes are used for the storage of biogas, carbon dioxide,  or other possible gases.  In case you would like to use your tank for biogas storage, MSE will install a double membrane cover. The flexible gas volume can be increased by using a higher double membrane cover. For biogas storage in a container you can also use a 20ft or 40ft container with a gasbag inside.

Biogas storage on the ground with MSE biogas dome

This system of biogas storage consists of an internal membrane, an external membrane and a bottom membrane. The gas is stored between the internal membrane and the bottom membrane. The ventilator / air blower provides the air pressure between the internal membrane and external membrane. This air pressure makes sure that the external membrane holds it shape in order to withstand wind and snow loads. Gas can be stored or taken away without changing the shape of the external membrane.

The MSE biogas balloon is installed on a concrete basis. Pressure valves and level measurement systems are always included in the scope of supply. On request methane detectors, control panels or even lightning diversion systems can be supplied.

The biogas gas can be stored up to pressures of 50 mBar. Biogas storage volumes vary from 20 m3 to 10.000 m3. The MSE biogas balloon has a ¾ or hemisphere shape. The hemisphere shape allows limited pressures (for example 5 mBar for gas-storage) where the ¾ Biogas dome/balloon can be applied for higher gas pressures (minimum 5 mBar up to 80 mBar).

MSE double membrane cover, biogas storage in a silo

The MSE double membrane cover can be installed on all concrete silos, on stainless steel silos, on glass-fuses-to-steel tanks but also on wooden tanks. Tanks do not necessary have to be round. They can be oval or even rectangular.
The double membrane cover consists of an internal membrane and an external membrane. Both membranes are made of biogas resistant reinforced PVC.

Due to the limited influence of UV alteration, the membranes are minimized, providing a longer life expectancy. The gas-permeability is very low. Due to the stainless steel clamping profiles, membranes can be used up to pressures of 40 mBar. The double membrane roofs are supplied including a stainless steel centre column and a support construction made of PES-belts. The maximum flexible biogas storage is the space between the belts of the under construction and the internal membrane in its highest position. In a tank with a diameter of 36 m the flexible biogas storage is almost 9.800 m3.

MSE has installed double membranes roofs up to 44 m (144 ft).

Biogas storage in a container

In a 20 ft container a gasbag with a biogas storage volume of 23 m3 can be installed. In a 40 ft container the biogas storage is 44 m3. The gasbag is made of special biogas reinforced PVC. Pressures up to 40 mBar are possible. On the interior walls, protection is put in place, to avoid damaging the gasbag. The system includes a pressure valve and flange connections.
The system is pre-assembled in the Netherlands.

Biogas storage systems are 100% high frequency welded

All MSE biogas storage systems are 100% high frequency welded, giving the best welding quality possible. The high frequency welding guarantees a significantly longer life lifespan than products welded by hot air. MSE applies reinforced technical textile PVC membranes with the lowest gas permeability possible. The industrial high frequency welding process ensures a constant welding quality. The high frequency is better resistant against very low temperatures (- 20 degrees Celsius) and very high temperatures (+ 70 degrees Celsius)
The storage systems are used for biogas installations in the agricultural market, water treatment plants and industrial applications.
